Preparing the Heart

"10 For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach statutes and ordinances in Israel."
Ezra 7:10 (NKJV)

Dear Christian,
Has the fallow ground of your heart been laid bare before God that its field might be plowed by the miraculous working of the Holy Spirit?  Is your heart prepared to receive the seed of His Word?  Have you allowed the Oil of Joy to overflow your vessel in order to keep your lamp burning in the night, ready at any moment for the coming of the Bridegroom?  Have you planted your heart next to the rich and refreshing waters of His Word?  Have you shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace?
Zerubbabel, Ezra, and Nehemiah all had key roles in the return to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile, but not before their hearts were prepared to seek God with their entire being.  God had told Zerubbabel in Zechariah 4:6 that the rebuilding of the temple would occur “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit.”  There is much in this life that can be accomplished for God, but not without the Holy Spirit first preparing our hearts for the work.  Have you prepared your heart to seek the Lord?
“Find me here at Your feet again
Ev'rything I am reaching out I surrender
Come sweep me up in Your love again
And my soul will dance on the wings of forever”

-“Touch the Sky” by Hillsong United
May you prepare your heart to be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to work in your life today.

Anchored in Christ,
