Never Giving Up

“3 Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men.”
Mark 2:3 (NKJV)

No doubt these four men were called Mercy, Compassion, Love, and Perseverance as they looked upon their helpless friend and carried him where he could not go himself.  Many would have stopped and turned back upon seeing no way to get this man to Jesus.  But not these men.  As Perseverance looks into the eyes of his dear friend lying on the mat, the fire of hope seemed to fade, but was quickly rekindled as he shouted to his other three friends, “We will find a way!”  By doing the unthinkable, they cut a hole into the roof, lowered their friend to Jesus, and their friend was healed.  But when was he healed?  When Jesus saw the faith of his friends.
Perhaps you have been praying for a person to come to know Jesus, but all hope seems to have dwindled.  Perhaps this person runs with the hounds of hell and seems to be lost forever?  If so, then let this story rekindle the fire of faith in heart.  Let it motivate you afresh to be on your knees for him/her.  Lower that person before the feet of Jesus by the rope of faith and see what Jesus will do.  He is able.  Never lose hope.  Never give up.
“Trim your feeble lamp, my brother! Some poor sailor tempest tossed, trying now to make the harbor, in the darkness may be lost.
Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor fainting, struggling seaman you may rescue, you may save.”
