A Higher Aim

"9 Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him."
2 Corinthians 5:9  (NKJV)

Oswald Chambers once said, “Naturally, our ambitions are our own; in the Christian life we have no aim of our own.”
There is a heavenly calling on the life every believer that compels us to a higher aim in life.  That aim is pleasing our Heavenly Father.  Every action, every thought, and every motivation hinges on the question, “Does this please the Father of Lights?”
As believers, why would we devote our lives to pleasing God and living for Him?  Because He has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Eph. 1:3) when He sent Christ to suffer on our behalf and to be our substitutionary sacrifice.  Christ gave His life for us and the least we could do is live our lives for Him.
We are called to walk in the light as He is in the light, but do our lives reflect the brilliance of His Son’s righteousness in all that we do?
Thankfully, Jesus has not left us alone in this endeavor.  He has given us the Helper to be our ever-present companion as we aim to please the Father.  As the Holy Spirit, the foretaste of glory, indwells our hearts, we become empowered to be a sweet aroma to the Lord in our service to Him.

Make the most of every opportunity God gives you today and may everything be done as a selfless act of worship to Him for He is worthy to receive it.
